Capsule endoscopy, or pillcam, is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure that allows us to examine the small intestine. The small capsule contains a camera that takes pictures of the bowel. It is swallowed, or in young children that cannot swallow, can be inserted via gastroscopy. Capsule endoscopy is a safe and effective way to diagnose gastrointestinal issues such as Crohn's disease, small bowel polyps or the source of GI bleeding that was not identified on gastroscopy or colonoscopy.
